About The Position

Network Systems Specialist II SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Network Systems Administrator I install, configures, and maintains Motion's (LANs), (WANs), data communication networks, operating systems, and servers. JOB DUTIES Defines, designs, and implements network communications and solution improvements to problems of moderate scope. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system with some discretion and judgment. Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for the purchase or upgrade of data networks under limited supervision. Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing with some guidance. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of appropriate networks, products, systems, and design.
  • Knowledge of job associated database/software/documentation/programming languages.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to Change Management processes.
  • Ability to interface well with vendors, customers, end users, partners, and associates.
