Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with physical network cabling, including both copper and fiber optic media
  • Foundational knowledge of the OSI model: Proficiency in Layer 1 and Layer 2 concepts required
  • Familiarity with Layer 3 concepts preferred
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation, including: Criminal and law enforcement history, Employment and education verification, Credit history review, VA Healthcare and Institutional background check
  • Must possess a valid Real ID-compliant state driver’s license and provide proof of current vehicle insurance
  • Must complete and pass a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) test, provided by the company
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must reside within the continental United States
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time, as required by project assignments
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be consistently punctual and reliable
  • Proven ability to maintain attention to detail, multi-task effectively, and learn quickly in dynamic environments
  • Must be a U.S Citizen
  • Successfully pass Veterans Affairs Background check

Responsibilities

  • Execute Installation Services, including: Unboxing and inspecting equipment
  • Preparing devices for deployment
  • Staging equipment for configuration
  • Transporting equipment to designated installation locations
  • Decommissioning and safely removing legacy hardware
  • Re-patching network and peripheral cabling to new equipment
  • Organizing decommissioned assets in coordination with onsite staff
  • Rack and Mount Equipment according to standardized procedures and architectural designs.
  • Establish Physical Connectivity by properly connecting network and peripheral cabling to switches and related infrastructure components.
  • Comprehend Equipment Interfaces including the identification of appropriate connectors and port types required for switch and network device installation.
  • Apply Knowledge of Fiber Optic Cabling, including various cable types and connector standards for proper integration.
  • Label and Document Cabling using to ensure consistency and traceability within the environment.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1 Connectivity issues, ensuring optimal performance and minimal disruption during deployment.
  • Assess Power Requirements, ensuring compatibility between newly deployed and outgoing hardware, with consideration for capacity and redundancy.
  • Perform Hardware Replacements with Minimal Downtime, adhering to change control and operational continuity standards.
  • Maintain and Update Documentation, including installation records, port maps, and physical layout diagrams to reflect current environment state
  • Capture Installation Site Images: Provide clear and comprehensive before-and-after photographs of installation areas, including:
  • Equipment Handling: Proficient in the installation and removal (rack/unrack) of network switches and related infrastructure components in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Local Travel: Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license and be able to travel between local project sites as required.
  • Daily Reporting: Submit accurate and timely Daily Activity Reports detailing progress, issues, and accomplishments for each site visit.
  • Inventory Management: Perform and maintain accurate records of equipment and tool inventories, ensuring proper documentation and accountability.
  • Cable Management: Apply and adhere to industry best practices for cable routing, labeling, and organization to ensure a clean and maintainable environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift and transport equipment weighing between 50-75 lbs.
