About The Position

Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto) is a hands-on security engineering role responsible for the implementation, management, and operational support of enterprise firewall and network security controls. This position focuses on Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant network connectivity across on-premises and cloud environments. The role partners closely with SOC and Threat teams to support incident response, threat containment, and continuous improvement of the organization’s network security posture. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. The selected candidate will be required to work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office/2 remote) out of our Dallas, TX, or Cincinnati, OH office. No relocation assistance is being offered with this role.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting enterprise or regulated environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in network security or security engineering roles.
  • Strong background with Azure components.
  • Strong experience with Palo Alto Network Firewalls, Panorama, VPN Technologies (GlobalProtect, site-to-site VPNs), and network security fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, segmentation, traffic inspection).

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls across data center, branch, and cloud environments.
  • Manage Panorama for centralized firewall policy management, logging, and configuration consistency.
  • Implement, review, and optimize firewall security policies, NAT rules, and security profiles.
  • Design and support secure remote access solutions, including Global Protect and site-to-site VPNs.
  • Perform regular firewall rule reviews, cleanup, and risk assessments.
  • Partner with the SOC to investigate and respond to network-based security incidents.
  • Provide firewall and network security expertise during incident containment and remediation.
  • Support secure network segmentation and Zero Trust initiatives.
  • Ensure firewall configurations align with NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and NAIC requirements.
  • Maintain documentation including network diagrams, configuration standards, and operational runbooks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
