About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Chief Technology Officer, Network/Commercial Sales, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for technical sales support for the Network/Commercial Sales team. The Sales Engineer will directly impact revenue for the company in this sales support role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Telecommunications, Information Systems) preferred or equivalent industry experience
  • Industry certifications (Calix, Cisco, Ciena, Metaswitch, MEF)
  • Knowledge of Internet Protocols, Routing and Switching, OTN, GPON, VOIP, and troubleshooting
  • 2-5+ years on engineer, technical Sales, business development Experience
  • Professional industry experience and general knowledge in construction, fiber/conduit, telecom, datacom accessories
  • Experience interacting with customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good project management skills; ability to work to deadlines
  • Methodical and analytical approach
  • Expected to learn on the job within 1-3 months: Use of tools such as Salesforce and iVUE and using telephone and email systems

Responsibilities

  • Performing consultative, solutions-based design clients to help drive revenue through the Network/Commercial Sales team
  • Understanding client requirements and providing solutions designs
  • Preparing customer presentations, architectural designs, and bid responses
  • Providing technical training for the Sales team
  • Presenting proposed solutions and technical designs to customers and prospects
  • Fielding technical questions from prospects and clients
  • Working with Product Management to help drive appropriate product enhancements
  • Providing implementation guidance to installation personnel as needed to clarify service expectations, including providing diagrams, verbal explanation, and written documentation
  • Attending company meetings as required
  • Maintaining peer relationships and understanding and utilizing company resources
  • Managing sales activities- daily/monthly/annual (quotes, RFQ/RFP, day to day sales activities, opportunity management, pricing, customer presentation/packet, lead creation, relation management, client visits)
