About The Position

Works independently and collaboratively within the Network Operations Center (NOC) to monitor, analyze, and respond to infrastructure interruptions and threats. Utilizes troubleshooting skills to pinpoint root cause and assist in developing remediation strategies.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of emerging technologies, best practices, and methods in networking and IT Security.
  • General knowledge of standard troubleshooting and root cause analysis procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and produce accurate and detailed work.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgement in performance of essential job functions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed to accomplish work objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, under general supervision.
  • Effective time management, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of IT work experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a network role preferred.
  • Participation in a tiered on-call rotation for a 24/7 network preferred.
  • Experience with Network Monitoring software and/or SIEM software preferred.
  • Experience and/or certifications with Cisco Network hardware and software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as initial point of contact for all network issues and tickets.
  • Performs basic networking functions and troubleshooting for routine issues, network outages, and alerts. Escalates complex or sensitive issues as appropriate.
  • Determines baseline performance metrics and reports on any data that falls outside of the baselines to the network team.
  • Monitors logs and reports to identify potential issues.
  • Maintains records of network monitoring and incident response activities; tracks ongoing issues.
  • Proposes changes and/or improvements to the processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency, provide better service, decrease incident response times, or other enhancements.
  • Ensures compliance with internal/external regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
