About The Position

We are seeking a reliable and meticulous Low Voltage Cabling Technician to handle all physical layer network installations, clean-up, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be an expert in copper cabling standards, take pride in high-quality workmanship, and possess the ability to work independently on client sites.

Requirements

2+ Years of professional experience in low voltage structured cabling installation, termination, and testing.
Deep practical knowledge of (Cat5E / Cat6 / Alarm and access system cable) installation and best practices.
Proficiency with industry-standard tools, including cable certification testers, punch-down tools, and power tools.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction drawings, blueprints, and project scopes.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces (closets, above ceilings).
Valid U.S. Driver’s License and reliable transportation are mandatory.

Nice To Haves

Fiber Optic Experience: Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation, termination (fusion splicing or mechanical connectors), and testing (OTDR/Power Meter).
Current technical certifications (e.g., BICSI Installer 1 or 2, specific manufacturer training).
Experience installing and troubleshooting surveillance (CCTV) and access control cabling

Responsibilities

Execute end-to-end installation of new structured copper cabling (Cat5E / Cat6 / Alarm and access system cable) following EIA/TIA standards and local code requirements.
Perform detailed cleanup, standardization, and labeling of existing patch panels, server racks, and network closets (IDF/MDF) to improve organization and manageability.
Utilize advanced testing equipment (cable certifiers, VFL, OTDR, toners) to quickly diagnose and repair physical layer network issues. Certify new runs to client and company quality standards.
Plan, mount, and install network hardware (switches, WAPs, VoIP equipment) in accordance with cabling paths and power requirements.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, including cable schematics, labeling guides, and before-and-after photos for all projects using our internal knowledge base.
