About The Position

Based in San Diego, CA, you will play a critical role in installing, maintaining, and upgrading software and hardware to ensure efficient operation of computer networks related to COMNET. In this role, you will support the City of San Diego’s network platforms for systems management, operational requests, and issue resolution—helping deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing network services. Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $100,000 - 135,010 annually, plus benefits, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • CCNA certification.
  • At least two years of experience as a Network Administrator.
  • Experience with cybersecurity, system software upgrades, building Windows servers and workstations, and creating network diagrams/documentation.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Trellix.
  • Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS

Responsibilities

  • Ensure network operations align with business goals and objectives.
  • Support problem, defect, and incident management processes for seamless network performance.
  • Provide evidence of network compliance for audit requests.
  • Develop and track performance and functional metrics for network services.
  • Troubleshoot issues, configure hardware and software, implement backup processes, and assess systems for upgrades or replacement.
  • Assist with rollout of new systems, software, and enhancements.
  • Monitor and maintain COMNET software, hardware, and network equipment, including installing necessary applications on servers and workstations.
  • Ensure high levels of network availability and security.
  • Document and improve DCS network equipment and configurations.
  • Develop training materials and procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers regarding network issues.
