About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a detail‑oriented, innovative Network Engineering Intern to join our team in Pullman, WA. The ideal candidate will work part‑time during the school year and full‑time over the summer. As a Network Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following: Participating in the development, design, and implementation of a worldwide, fault-tolerant enterprise network infrastructure consisting of a large headquarters campus LAN and a significant worldwide WAN. Manage and prioritize wiring requests, including evaluating existing infrastructure and designing connection plans based on customer specifications. Interface with customers and teammates to gather requirements, ensure proper port configurations, and follow up to confirm successful implementation. Perform capacity planning, maintain IT documentation, and support security administration and enhancements.

Requirements

  • Are a current student working toward a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Have a desire and aptitude to learn the details of enterprise network wiring, how to work safely on lifts and ladders daily, and port configuration for network connections.
  • Have excellent customer service commitment.
  • Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Can work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Have background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Have negative drug test result(s)
