About The Position

The Disney Cruise Line Network Team is responsible for designing, configuring, deploying and operating/managing all network devices in the Disney Cruise Line realm. This includes ships at sea, private islands, home ports, and technology labs. The Network Engineer will report to the Senior Manager, Technology .

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in an enterprise level organization.
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment with dynamic prioritization of efforts.
  • Experience with day to day hands on operation of standard networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and load balancers.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of network security principles, best practices, and understanding of ISE appliances and dot1x principals.
  • Proficiently troubleshoots network issues, taking a new perspective on existing solutions
  • Assists in developing deployment centralization of devices across a diverse on premise architecture that requires the ability to operate in an air gapped methodology.
  • Proficient in problem solving day to day and broader scope issues with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus LAN platforms, Cisco Wireless LAN controllers, Palo Alto Firewalls, Broadcom AVI Load Balancers, F5 Networks Load Balancers, Cisco SD-WAN platform, Cisco Security and Management appliances (DNAC, ISE) a plus.
  • Cisco, Palo Alto certifications a plus with a concentration on Enterprise Datacenter, Routing/Switching, Troubleshooting, Wireless LAN, Firewall Management.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a complete and complex framework, system, or product (i.e. Datacenter and distribution LAN switches, WAN routers, Wireless Controllers/Access Points, Firewalls, Network security platforms, load balancers.)
  • Work to apply team and organization defined standards for technical platforms, system specifications, security parameters, and configuration frameworks for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Actions request and incident tickets with guidance from senior network engineers.
  • Executes and adapts automation processes to reduce workload toil.
  • Participate in team objectives for capital and expense project initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance to partner teams in completion of complex organizational level projects.
  • You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies
  • This role may entail frequent travel, approximately 30-40% of the time, to provide support to DCL shipyards, drydocks, and islands as needed
