Design and implement carrier-grade IP/MPLS networks, including core, aggregation, and edge layers. Lead engineering efforts across BGP, IS-IS/OSPF, LDP/SR, and EVPN/VXLAN architectures. Maintain and optimize Layer 2/3 transport, subscriber management, and peering infrastructures. Develop automation and telemetry for provisioning, monitoring, and fault detection (Python, Ansible, REST APIs). Drive network scalability and capacity planning aligned with traffic growth. Perform deep-dive troubleshooting of routing, forwarding, and optical transport issues. Work closely with NOC, architecture, and platform teams to maintain uptime and performance SLAs. Contribute to vendor evaluations, network migrations, and standards documentation. . You will lead teams in the troubleshooting of the most complex data network and hardware problems. You will be empowered to research technological advancements and evaluate complex data networking technologies to understand their potential and to recommend future direction. This role will work with a Global Engineering team supporting a complex ground segment network and will be a hosted member of Hybrid Platforms – Network Engineering.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in Service Provider or Carrier-grade networking roles.
  • Strong operational expertise in BGP, IS-IS, MPLS (LDP/RSVP/SR), EVPN/VXLAN, and QoS.
  • Hands-on with Juniper (MX, QFX, ACX), Cisco (NCS, ASR), or Nokia (SR) platforms.
  • Experience with traffic engineering, route reflectors, and peering/transit management.
  • Familiar with L3VPN/L2VPN (VPLS, VPWS), GRE, and tunnel architectures.
  • Strong understanding of IPv6 deployment and policy design.
  • Solid grasp of network monitoring systems (SNMP, Telemetry, Splunk, Grafana).
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cisco NSO, or similar SDN controllers.
  • Proficiency in network automation (Python, Netconf/YANG).
  • Knowledge of optical transport, DWDM, or segment routing traffic engineering.
  • Familiarity with Datacenter architectures and technologies.
  • Relevant certifications (JNCIP-SP, JNCIE-SP, CCNP/CCIE SP, or equivalent).
  • Up to 15% travel
