About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. As a Network Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following: Designs and implements computer and information networks. Performs network modeling, analysis, and planning. Researches and recommends network and data communications hardware and software. Implement data security systems such as firewalls, virus protection software and data backups. Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems network operations. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions. Monitors and responds to technical control network hardware and software problems. Interfaces with vendor service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Manages the testing, installation, and support of network communications systems. Performs system-level design and configuration of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Network Security Management, or a related field.
  • Active or ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in: Network design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of network engineering principles, theories, and concepts and ability to contribute to the development of new and innovative principles and concepts.
  • Extensive experience in Linux-based systems.
  • Previous experience working in classified and unclassified distributed work environment architectures and systems.
  • Programming skills (RedHat, Java).
