The Network Engineer role is responsible for the planning, design, engineering, testing and implementation phases of IT projects to ensure the confidential, integrity, and availability of Patterson's information assets and systems. The role will often provide IT consultation on both Infrastructure and IT projects and serve as an expert in the maintenance and remediation of IT platform issues. This role will be Hybrid (2-days a week in office) and it is required that you are located within 50 miles of our Corporate Office in Mendota Heights, MN. In-person attendance is expected to foster collaboration, innovation, and team connection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, or related area or equivalent education and/or experience
  • 2 years experience in network engineering or architecture, preferably in large scale-hybrid environment and Experience with network equipment such as Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco and Experience with network virtualization technology such as SD-WAN, VLAN, Azure VLAN
  • Strong customer service, communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced multi-user environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure AWS

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the design, implementation, deployment, integration and initial engineering of IT solutions and enhancements to existing IT solutions within assigned technology area(s)
  • Facilitate the establishment of baselines to monitor systems and applications for IT related issues; proactively monitor to identify potential issues and consult on resolutions
  • Provide guidance, and contribute to the creation of standards, processes, and procedures; identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency
  • Assist with the resolution of escalated alerts, service requests, and incidents; may assist team with prioritization based on impact of issue collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to prioritize IT risks, provide mitigation or remediation recommendations, and implement IT controls
  • Provide information to appropriate teams to ensure updated documentation and knowledge management within assigned technology area(s)
  • Comply with Company and department policies and standards; performs other duties as assigned
  • Accountability for network optimization and performance tuning, security architecture and implementation, and standards compliance
