About The Position

Tyto Athene is searching for a Network Engineer to design, develop, configure, deploy, and maintain systems to fulfill customer operational requirements. The engineer will work as part of an integrated team including systems administrators, engineering technicians, and physical security professionals to manage and maintain the next evolution of physical security access control systems. Support will be on-site at Chesapeake, VA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the design, installation, testing and support of DoD networks.
  • Relevant years of experience managing network modernization work or system projects of similar scope and complexity.
  • Strong hands-on experience with network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, operating systems.
  • Experience conducting network risk and vulnerability assessments.
  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot solutions utilizing Microsoft Windows OS, various browsers, internet apps and computer diagnostic tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and SQL, while adhering to all security protocols within a networked environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with relational database systems and SQL tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the relationship between databases and other software and the interfaces necessary to facilitate a cohesive system.
  • Enforces security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security.
  • Knowledge and experience with personal computer hardware, including processors, motherboards, memory, hard disks, optical drives, and peripherals.
  • Knowledge and experience with servers, server clustering, ESXi Virtual software, and virtual machines.
  • Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and with the ability to anticipate and provide solutions that result in gained efficiencies in business processes and improved customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, maintains, and operates networks.
  • Provides overall network infrastructure support to routing and switching equipment, firewalls, and associated cabling.
  • Responsible for maintaining the technical infrastructure as required to meet business needs with little or no supervision. This would include proactive software updates and patching as well as equipment and software refresh / maintenance.
  • Evaluates network architecture across platforms to ensure alignment to network modernization strategies, capabilities, and requirement sets.
  • Responsible for providing first level support and troubleshooting for incidents reported by system monitoring, change requests, users support tickets or networking with IT peers.
  • Liaise with technical leads, OEMs, and other stakeholders to resolve network problems.
