About The Position

This position is responsible for the design, support, configuration, and maintenance of the ACES Data Network. Typical network hardware includes Arista and Cisco infrastructure, Palo Alto Firewalls, Palo Alto CloudGenix / Prisma SD-WAN, and Arista and Meraki Access Points. This position is responsible for both the Corporate and Generation Operations (air-gapped) Networks. Typical network services and duties include LAN-to-LAN VPN tunnels, Dynamic User VPN connections via GlobalProtect, Clientless VPN, Security and URL policy management, Arista CloudVision Zero-Touch Provisioning, SD-WAN configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting, Multi-homed ARIN Autonomous System management for IPv4 space, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing on various platforms, and Wireless AP and Security Camera configuration and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Technology or related degree desired, but not required
  • Four or more years of data network experience
  • In-depth experience with analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of hardware and software problems
  • Experience with Cisco or Arista network routing and switching administration
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls
  • In-depth with planning network related projects
  • Experience with Linux or other GNU operating systems
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to develop and execute short term plans
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to physically move electronic equipment up to 40lbs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Minimum of 10% travel required
  • Ability to hold travel expenses until reimbursement
  • Works independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Provide investigation, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
  • Ensure rapid response and resolution to business support issues
  • Ability to effectively interact with users, technical staff, vendors, and management
  • Provide 24 hours a day / 7 days a week on-call support on a rotating basis
  • Install and configure new network hardware and related peripheral devices and services
  • Support some server applications related to various 3rd party monitoring software
  • Apply and maintain system security, patches, and configuration to meet corporate security goals
  • Make recommendations for new hardware, software, and services to meet corporate and departmental goals
  • Maintain a high level of system availability, stability, and performance
  • Create and maintain diagrams and documentation of network systems and policies
  • Monitor, fine-tune, and troubleshoot system and hardware performance and issues
  • Research, evaluate, plan, and implement network hardware, software and related projects
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement business continuity and related projects
  • Participates in business continuity exercises as requested and maintains system readiness for business continuity
  • Works with ISP support staff to mitigate issues with Internet and other WAN circuits
  • Adhere to and support all ACES corporate policies and comply with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position
  • Any additional responsibilities assigned by management
