About The Position

Piper Companies is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise-level data and voice networks for a large healthcare organization in the Columbia, MD area.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working in large-scale network environments, including planning, deployment, and support of LAN/WAN infrastructure
• Proficiency in network security platforms and tools, including Cisco Firepower, FTD, Zscaler, Cisco ISE, Palo Alto firewalls and VPNs, Meraki, and Cisco ACI
• Deep understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 technologies (BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP)
• Skilled in network analysis tools like Wireshark
• CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or CWNA certifications highly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field

Responsibilities

• Design, configure and maintain Cisco-based network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/WLAN)
• Implement and manage Cisco routers, switches, firewalls (ASA, Firepower), and VPN solutions
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues using Cisco tools and protocols
• Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of Cisco devices
• Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 level support and mentor junior network staff
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams and change management records
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex network and UC issues
