About The Position

Configure and maintain network and security components. Perform network and security risk assessments. Provide capacity and contingency planning, thorough documentation, reports and presentations to upper management. Implement new and/or execute current processes and procedures that aid in the efficiency of managing and expanding the network. Research, analyze and implement software patches or hardware changes needed for any security- or network-related deficiencies. Provide support and mentorship for Jr. Network Engineers and the Network Operations Center. Evaluate and test new products, services and internal tools. Participate in Hotwire core network architecture development, including network evolution and vision, market expansions, new technologies roll out, MPLS, IPv6, product offering etc. Design, engineer and deploy BGP and OSPF Area-0 changes and upgrades Contribute to Hotwire network security tasks relevant to BGP and OSPF Identify, research and close network and security vulnerabilities Interact and represent Hotwire with peering and transit partners/vendors and others. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Participate in second-level (backup) on-call rotation. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years as Network Engineer in a service provider in a similar role
  • At least 5 years of relevant IP networking experience working for service providers or Telecom vendor
  • Excellent understanding of BGP and OSPF including daily operations of both protocols for large networks
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with IP Multicast
  • Network security experience, including firewall and IDS/IPS appliances/functions
  • Understanding of IPTV, preferably Mediaroom and video compression/distribution
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with Security components (Firewalls, IDS/IPS)
