About The Position

FWI is building a team to administer, maintain, secure, and accredit the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network, which provides the IT environment for 100% of DLIFLC teaching and instruction for all students, staff, faculty, and guests. This position will serve as the Government's senior network architect and Extreme Networks specialist, bridging network infrastructure design, performance optimization, and strategic planning to maintain reliable voice, data, and wireless services. The Network Engineer V will lead network planning and problem identification, optimize Extreme Network hardware and software, reduce latency, enhance scalability, provide knowledge transfer to IT staff, and ensure the military language training community receives a high-performance, resilient network infrastructure that supports their mission-critical educational operations. Position is contingent upon contract award Work Schedule and Location: On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday,7:45am to 4:45pm at Presidio of Monterey in Monterey, CA.

Requirements

  • BA/BS from accredited college/university with minimum 5 years experience OR AA/AS with minimum 7 years experience OR 9+ years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, with focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions
  • Requires one of the following certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP
  • CCNA Certification or equivalent
  • Secret level security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Senior Network Architect for network design and infrastructure updates
  • Act as Project Manager for high-priority network projects using Extreme devices
  • Perform tuning, optimization, and proactive maintenance of Extreme Network equipment
  • Serve as onsite contact for support and product escalations with Extreme Networks
  • Conduct network assessments, traffic analysis, and capacity planning for future growth
  • Design network topology to streamline data flow, reduce latency, enhance scalability, and ensure redundancy
  • Develop software release planning and documentation
  • Provide knowledge transfer and technical training to IT staff on network infrastructure
  • May be required to travel (CONUS/OCONUS)
