A Kaniksu Community Health Network Engineer is not just responsible for providing excellent customer service. They are committed to providing support and maintaining, and enhancing our network infrastructure in a secure, compliant, and mission-driven environment. This role supports day-to-day network operations, assists with troubleshooting and upgrades, and collaborates with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure reliable and secure connectivity across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing complex networks in multi-site environments.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, VPNs, DHCP, DNS, and Wi-Fi systems.
  • Experience with firewall platforms (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, SonicWall).
  • Demonstrated experience with HIPAA or other regulated environments.
  • Experience in healthcare, community health centres, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Azure/AWS cloud networking and hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of VoIP systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in fast-paced clinical environments.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPNs, firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network connectivity, hardware, and software issues.
  • Configuring and optimizing network devices to support performance, scalability, and security.
  • Performing routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching to keep systems current and secure.
  • Monitoring network performance, availability, and security, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation such as network diagrams, configurations, and asset inventories.
  • Supporting network security through access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Assisting with disaster recovery, backup planning, and network continuity activities.
  • Providing day-to-day supervision, task prioritization, coaching, and performance feedback for one direct report.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and third-party providers on projects, integrations, and support activities.
