About The Position

We are seeking a Network Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for a mission-critical defense program supporting operations in Oahu, Hawaii. This individual will serve as the senior authority for enterprise network design, integration, cybersecurity compliance, modernization initiatives, and operational sustainment across classified and unclassified environments. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision and the ability to lead engineering teams in high-availability, mission-focused environments.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance (SCI eligibility strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering.
  • Deep expertise in: Enterprise routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN) Layer 2/Layer 3 network architecture design Firewall architectures and segmentation VPN technologies and secure remote access Network monitoring and performance management tools
  • Experience supporting classified environments (SIPR, JWICS, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of: Risk Management Framework (RMF) Zero Trust Architecture Network segmentation and micro-segmentation Cross-domain solutions
  • Relevant certifications such as: CCIE (preferred) CISSP CASP+ CCNP Enterprise (minimum)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting INDOPACOM or Pacific-based defense operations.
  • Experience designing hybrid cloud network architectures (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
  • Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation (Ansible, Python).
  • Experience with satellite communications (SATCOM) and tactical edge networking.
  • ITIL v4 certification or familiarity with service management frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, resilient, and scalable enterprise network architectures.
  • Oversee integration of network infrastructure supporting C5ISR, cloud, hybrid, and tactical environments.
  • Develop roadmaps for modernization, automation, and performance optimization.
  • Provide technical direction to network engineers, cybersecurity engineers, and system administrators.
  • Review and approve network designs, configurations, and change requests.
  • Lead root cause analysis for complex network incidents and outages.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities are implemented and tested.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements (e.g., RMF, STIG implementation, zero trust principles).
  • Support ATO processes, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness.
  • Architect solutions that meet classified network requirements and cross-domain solutions.
  • Oversee network sustainment activities, lifecycle management, and hardware/software refresh planning.
