This role supports a customer in Kinston, NC. Job Description and Responsibilities: The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a network infrastructure that leverages a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP) while supporting a Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) network. The individual will work as part of a network operations team to ensure seamless integration of the commercial network and the RDT&E network into a unified fabric using Cisco hardware. The role requires expertise in load balancing, throughput management, and network optimization to support mission-critical operations.
Requirements
- Highschool, CSWF acceptable cert (CompTIA Cloud+ or Sec+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP), and 3+ years of relevant experience OR BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering; Security+ cert, and 3+ years of relevant experience
- Secret Clearance (must be a US Citizen)
Nice To Haves
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Cisco hardware and networking technologies. Experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in load balancing techniques and throughput management.
- Experience: Proven experience in supporting RDT&E networks or similar environments. Familiarity with commercial ISP networks and their integration into larger infrastructures.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Network Design and Implementation: Stand up and configure a network leveraging a commercial ISP. Design and implement solutions to integrate the commercial network with the RDT&E network into a single fabric using Cisco hardware.
- Network Operations and Support: Provide embedded support for the RDT&E network as part of the network operations team. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues to ensure high availability and performance.
- Load Balancing and Throughput Management: Optimize network performance by implementing load balancing techniques. Manage network throughput to ensure efficient data flow and support mission-critical applications.
- Integration and Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand mission requirements and translate them into network solutions. Work closely with other team members to ensure seamless integration of network components.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures. Provide regular reports on network performance, issues, and resolutions.
