About The Position

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining consoles, servers, and network devices supporting mission-critical launch operations. You will develop processes and procedures for verifying system integrity, configuration management, and automated deployment of systems and services. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge and expertise in Microsoft and Linux environments
  • 7+ years experience in Network Engineering role
  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, or another automated provisioning system
  • Proficient skill with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
  • Hands-on experience with IP networking, Wireshark, LDAP, and Active Directory
  • Expertise with Linux, Bash (Ubuntu and CentOS client and server)
  • Knowledge of Subversion, Gitlab, or other Continuous Improvement / Continuous Deployment automation pipelines to consistently provide a known good configuration for various types of computing environments for each user.
  • Experience with JIRA, Remedy, or other ticketing / change management systems
  • Experience with multifactor authentication & PKI systems
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays if required.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be a life-long learner, have a team-oriented, continuous improvement mindset, and demonstrate a consistent customer-centric attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Python, Shell, or another scripting language
  • Network+ Certification, CCNA, JNCIA, MCSE
  • Experience working with DO-178C, or within safety-critical considerations
  • Experience working with virtual environments

Responsibilities

  • Work with New Shepard software, operations, and maintenance teams to develop and drive a roadmap for infrastructure management which stays ahead of evolving software requirements
  • Research, implement, and maintain an automated provisioning system for mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Implement, upgrade, diagnose, and support workstation and server hardware, as well as COTS and custom-built software for a multi-user environment.
  • Help incorporate and enforce requirements from IT Networking and IT Security into our environment
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues infrastructure-related anomalies, work with stakeholders to diagnose issues
  • Work closely with engineers and operators from multiple disciplines to understand and meet hardware, software, and configuration needs
  • Write consistent, clear, concise documentation on how to perform, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and software issues while utilizing industry best practices.
  • Provide precise, quick, and customer-focused support in a time-sensitive environment.
