About The Position

The Network Engineer II is responsible for the implementation and support of various networking technologies and solutions. This role involves managing data collection, reporting, and trending for all critical network components and services. The Network Engineer II assists in diagnosing and resolving network and security incidents and requests that require research and diagnosis. They also recommend process changes that improve the implementation, maintenance, and support of network equipment. The Network Engineer II is tasked with maintaining computer networks, including mainframes, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware. They install and configure network equipment, create firewalls, and update virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected. Additionally, they monitor computer systems to improve network performance, troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, and implement disaster recovery procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Cisco Network Engineer or in a similar networking role required.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
  • Expertise in Cisco routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and switching protocols (VLANs, STP).
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Ability to design and implement complex network solutions based on business requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and implement Cisco-based network solutions according to business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Develop network architecture diagrams, documentation, and configurations
  • Configure and maintain Cisco routers and switches (Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS). Implement routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and manage VLANs, STP, and VTP configurations
  • Design, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco wireless networks (Cisco WLC, Cisco APs). Implement wireless security protocols (WPA2, 802.1X) and optimize WLAN performance.
  • Configure and manage firewalls and VPNs (site-to-site, remote access). Implement security policies and access control lists (ACLs) to safeguard network infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues using Cisco monitoring tools (Cisco DNA Center). Conduct network audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and optimization
  • Deploy and support Cisco collaboration solutions, including Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Unity Connection, and Cisco WebEx. Configure voice and video technologies (VoIP, SIP, Telepresence).
  • Provide tier 3 support and troubleshooting for network infrastructure issues. Work closely with help desk and NOC teams to resolve escalated incidents and service requests.
