About The Position

The Network Engineer II, under general direction, performs complex and non-routine specialized network engineering functions, such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, and problem-solving. Implements network design activities. Implements tests used to certify network to required installation design standards. Analyzes, troubleshoots, tracks, and repairs data communications networks. Works with clients to identify networking supporting clients’ goals. Consults with clients to review project plans and schedules, secure approval of test results, and discuss problems or concerns. Reviews the accuracy of documentation of network engineering designs, plans, maps, methods, and procedures. Documents problems and repairs. Implements new technology deployments and integration testing. Monitors and maintains network security. Implements the evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability with regards to clients’ needs. Assists project leader with developing work plans and time schedules for projects including outlining phases, identifying personnel, and computing equipment requirements. Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • Experience – Three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of: Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Advanced analysis, troubleshooting, problem-solving, Client relations skills, Requirement assessment and analysis, Project management methodology, and Proficiency with the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL).
  • Ability to: Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Licensing / Professional Certification – Current Cisco CCNA/CCDA certification or must be obtained within first 12 months of employment.
  • Physical Requirements – General office environment.
  • Position may require working evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
