About The Position

The Network Director of Operations for HS is principally responsible for leading all operations at Democracy Prep’s High Schools. The Network Director of Operations is responsible for providing high-quality coaching and leadership to the operations managers at all high schools, driving toward success on all operations KPIs through coaching of operations leaders and the oversight of smooth systems. The Network Director of Operations ensures that our high schools drive towards strong academic outcomes of our students through strongly coached school-based operations leaders, the tight management of school budgets, strong attendance systems, and excellent scholar retention systems. They are a leader at the CMO and play a key role in cultivating a physical environment of excellence and seamless operations across our NY schools.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience managing critical processes, teaching and/or school based operational experience
• A graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program strongly preferred
• A champion for data-driven decision making
• A proven leader who has experience setting and implementing a vision for how school operations teams leads to strong academic outcomes and a healthy school and staff culture
• A strong relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to work collaboratively across teams, and an ability to develop and maintain long-term, productive relationships internally and externally.
• You are an organized, data-driven project manager that utilizes your content-matter expertise to partner with teams, schools, and other leaders to develop strong systems and solutions
• An excellent manager and team leader with a track record of leading teams in diverse functional areas.
• An expert negotiator and contract manager, able to handle a complex variety of external vendors to excellent service
• A systems-level thinker with the ability to solve problems and build scalable solutions
• A subject matter expert who understands the nuances of K-12 school systems
• A team player who loves to teach, learn, and invest in the professional development of others

Responsibilities

• NY Operations Leadership
• Lead the efforts to ensure strong attendance systems are in place across schools including thorough attendance intervention systems for chronically absent students
• Oversee the implementation of enrollment and re-enrollment systems by school based ops teams to ensure the healthy enrollment of NY schools
• Oversee student retention systems that foster a strong sense of student belonging in NY schools
• Create and execute a professional development scope and sequence to NY ops teams and school leaders coordinating closely with key members of the COO Team to deliver professional development that meets the needs of the entire COO Team
• Oversee expense tracking systems for NY operations teams that lead to strong budget management and high quality BVA meetings. Deliver the necessary professional development and training to ensure that schools are tracking expenses with fidelity
• Ensure clear and timely communication of important operations-related updates and deliverables via the weekly NY Ops Leader Bulletin, Principal Weekly Memos, and other avenues as needed
• Coordinate the yearlong NY Operations Calendar that outlines important compliance deliverables to school based teams to ensure operational success
• Support the recruitment and operations growth pipeline across NY schools to ensure that operations team members are moving through the talent pipeline and operations leadership roles are filled with highly qualified individuals
• School Operations Excellence
• Through highly effective coaching and direct management, build Operations Managers’ capacity to run excellent school operations. Through coaching and accountability systems, ensure high quality data driven operations leadership exists on each campus.
• Root coaching and leadership in driving towards operations KPIs and drive the strategy of progress monitoring against these metrics across schools within your portfolio
• Foster collaborative relationships with Deputy Superintendents and the Chief Schools Officer to ensure that key initiatives are handled with success in all New York schools and to ensure that shared Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met or exceeded and strategic initiatives are implemented
• Partner with school and CMO teams to provide leadership and content expertise across key operational functions in schools
• Conduct internal operational reviews of school-based systems and procedures to recognize areas of strength, identify opportunities for improvement and identify, codify and share best practices in school operations
• Engage with other COO Team Leads in a weekly meeting to progress monitor key results, coordinate cross-team support with other CMO teams, and remove or eliminate barriers for school operations teams to achieve operational excellence
• Facilitate effective collaboration across CMO teams and facilitate communication and feedback between schools and CMO teams
• High School Operational Systems
• Oversee school operations across high schools, driving schools to achieve key operational outcomes and realize strong operational health
• Project manage the creation and timely delivery of all high school’s master schedules in partnership with master schedule vendor, schools, and academics teams
• Manage all testing systems (including Regents exams, College Board, ACT, AP exams, and internal exams) to ensure operationally smooth testing administration
• Plan and oversee the execution of graduation and senior events through venue and vendor coordination ensuring that these events celebrate graduates as well as our mission as a college preparatory institution
• Design and implement transcript processes In partnership with the Data, Academics, and Schools Teams
