About The Position

Job Overview Performs architecture design of enterprise network infrastructure and establishes enterprise infrastructure technology standards and multi-platform hardware/software solutions for enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN), firewalls, voice communications infrastructure/systems (including Voice Over IP), and wireless networking and monitoring systems. Performs capacity and performance planning and manages complex global enterprise technology projects in accordance with established project management methodology. Provides advanced technical support for all subordinate positions. The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented Network Architect with extensive hands-on experience architecting, implementing, and supporting Checkpoint/Cisco enterprise network infrastructure. Has a strong understanding of Checkpoint/Cisco routing, switching, firewalls, and network security best practices, and thrives in environments that require both independent problem solving and cross team collaboration. Candidate is comfortable troubleshooting complex network issues, documenting solutions, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information technology or related engineering field; AND Six years of enterprise network and voice infrastructure experience providing architecture design, establishing technology standards, developing multi-platform hardware / software solutions and managing complex enterprise technology projects in accordance with formal project management methodologies; OR An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
  • Knowledge of industry project methodologies and use of documentation platforms for project and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, characteristics, features and troubleshooting methods associated with network routing protocols, and/or switching methodologies, and/or firewall concepts, Virtual Private Networking (VPN) connectivity, and data network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, characteristics, features and troubleshooting methods associated with voice communications infrastructure/systems (Voice Over IP, Analog Communications, and Cellular).
  • Knowledge of industry standards, characteristics, features and troubleshooting methods associated with data communications over wireless network infrastructure.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple complex projects and tasks to meet delivery dates.
  • Ability to develop, edit, and present technical designs, network diagrams, project plans and other technical reports.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software technical issues associated with enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN), wireless networking, and voice communications infrastructure/systems (including Voice Over IP).
  • Ability to work effectively with others and provide superior customer service to end-users.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to end-users, vendors, management, and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced research and development to establish enterprise architecture standards, infrastructure technology standards and multi-platform hardware/software solutions for enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN), firewalls, voice communications infrastructure/systems (including Voice Over IP), and wireless networking and monitoring systems.
  • Performs project management duties on complex global, enterprise technology projects in accordance with established project management methodology.
  • Performs enterprise-level technical design, remedial troubleshooting, preventative/remedial maintenance, installation, configuration, and upgrades, for enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN), wireless networking, and voice communications infrastructure/systems (including Voice Over IP).
  • Develops, edits, and presents, technical designs, network diagrams, project plans, technology plans/roadmaps, and other technical reports.
  • Develops and reviews procurement-related documentation including Requests for Proposals and Scope of Works.
  • Acts as team technical liaison for externally managed technology projects originating from the Enterprise Project Management Office as well as other Departments and provides project management mentoring for Network Administrators and Network Engineers.
  • Provides advanced technical debugging and troubleshooting for escalated complex issues in supporting multiple infrastructure platforms related to enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN), firewalls, voice communications infrastructure/systems (including Voice Over IP), and wireless networking and monitoring systems.
  • Provides administrative and technical guidance/support for subordinate-level technical positions.
  • Reviews and monitors performance and performs capacity planning of enterprise infrastructure systems and develops management recommendations for the implementation of enhancements to the enterprise architecture.
  • Recommends innovative solutions to reduce operational costs, improve client productivity, and enhance the efficiency and reliability of the enterprise infrastructure.
  • Performs project management duties on complex technology projects in accordance with established project management methodology.
  • Performs remedial troubleshooting, preventative/remedial maintenance, installation, configuration, and upgrades, for enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN), wireless networking, and voice communications infrastructure/systems (including Voice Over IP).
  • Performs as supervisor to subordinate technical personnel engaged in performance of installation, maintenance and support of hardware and software systems.
  • Develops, edits, and presents, technical designs, network diagrams, project plans and other technical reports.
  • Drives a vehicle to remote locations to deliver, pickup, install and/or troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Works with vendors, clients, and other technical staff to resolve technical issues related to vendor-specific supported infrastructure.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
