About The Position

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. State Troopers are committed to protecting North Carolina's motoring public. The NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our team as a Network Analyst. Network Analyst is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining enterprise networking services that provide mission-critical connectivity to law enforcement officers across North Carolina.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, an IT related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in networking or related area; OR Associate degree in Computer Science, an IT related field, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in networking or related area; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five years of experience in networking or related area; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Qualified recommended applicant(s) must undergo and successfully pass: ·Criminal Background Investigation ·Drug Screening Test
  • Extensive statewide travel is required at times with minimal overnight stays.

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles and protocols
  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies, including routing, switching, and VPN solutions
  • Knowledge of network cabling standards and physical connectivity requirements
  • Knowledge of network security concepts, including perimeter protection, secure tunneling, and malware mitigation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and endpoint integration within enterprise networks

Responsibilities

  • Supports the installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of statewide data communications services
  • Diagnosing full data-path issues-from network perimeter devices to end-user endpoints
  • Works closely with field personnel, end users, and external service providers
