About The Position

The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the enterprise network infrastructure across multiple facilities. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performing connectivity to support clinical and administrative operations 24/7. The Network Administrator manages LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall systems, oversees network security and performance, and ensures compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity standards. This position serves as a technical leader within the IT Engineering team, providing expertise in network design, troubleshooting, and project execution. The Network Administrator collaborates closely with Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, and Information Security teams to deliver scalable network solutions that align with organizational strategy, improve operational efficiency, and support patient care excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree Preferred
  • Five years of network administration, active directory, virtualization technology, server patching/management, and supporting Cisco devices and single sign on
  • 18 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and maintains enterprise network infrastructure supporting LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity across all Manatee Health facilities.
  • Administers and monitors network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing connectivity.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex network issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions to maintain optimal uptime and service levels.
  • Oversees VPN administration, including user provisioning, access control, and activity monitoring to maintain secure remote connectivity.
  • Develops, documents, and maintains network architecture diagrams, configuration records, and change logs to support operational integrity and audit readiness.
  • Implements and enforces network security policies in collaboration with Information Security, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards.
  • Manages network performance through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and scheduled upgrades to support organizational growth and reliability.
  • Participates in network-related projects, including design, implementation, and vendor management, to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions.
  • Coordinates with systems engineering, telecommunications, and security teams to ensure integration and continuity of operations.
  • Contributes to disaster recovery and business continuity planning by maintaining secure backups of network configurations and developing recovery procedures.
  • Serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Participates in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for network-related incidents.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and evaluates solutions to enhance performance, cost-effectiveness, and system reliability.
