GDIT is in need of a Network Administrator to support our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program in Kosovo. The Network Administrator serves as a member of a large Network Operations team to provide the full complement of LAN/WAN/ICAN network services to a large user base at a forward deployed austere site, to include router / switch configuration, COMSEC, VOIP provisioning, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to a customer base that may change often. The Network Administrator works alongside ISP/OSP technicians to plan and complete network installation tasks across local and remote/isolated sites in support of customer projects. These tasks are accomplished while targeting a high level of Cybersecurity compliance across the network, ensuring DoD network assets remain properly configured, patched, and updated to mitigate cyber risks. The Network Administrator participates in rotational shift work to function as a member of the Technical Control Facility and coordinates with the Theater Node Site Coordinator for the 24/7/365 monitoring and availability of WAN circuits as required. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Network Administrator Senior, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe. You will play a crucial role in providing mission command support. Installation and configuration routing, switching, and current Cisco networking software (most current versions of Cisco IOS) are essential as well as installation, configuration, and management of network devices to include routers, switches, and ancillary network devices and networking software as part of the Local and Wide Area Network. Works closely with the OSP/ISP Network Specialist to assist with Inside Plant, Outside Plant, Cabling, and Trenching services. Assists the OSP/ISP Network Specialist with OSP/ISP cable plant troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, and installation to include, copper/fiber, patch panels, MDFs, CAT 5/6, RJ-11, RJ-45 terminations, and perform necessary fiber optic, media converters, copper/fiber modems, UPS installation/repair/troubleshooting procedures. Install copper and fiber cabling and equipment in accordance with DoD TEMPEST standards, Army guide 3.15 General Cable Specifications, NSTISSI protective distribution system (PDS) installation guideline. Tests copper and fiber cabling for signal quality, degradation, throughput, continuity, and availability. Terminate and splice both copper and fiber optic cables. Maintains technical proficiency and ensures applicable certifications are kept current with the technology being implemented. Configure voice endpoints in Cisco Unified Communication manager (CUCM) i.e., adding, editing & troubleshooting. Monitor WAN infrastructure & LAN network devices via CE Spectrum platform and reporting as required throughout the assigned area of responsibility. Creates network and rack elevation diagrams using Microsoft Visio and/or PowerPoint in required formats to support network and system accreditation packages. Performs other duties and assignments as required.
