About The Position

The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the company’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations. This role manages the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network hardware, software, and related systems while ensuring compliance with security standards and company policies. The Network Administrator works closely with IT staff and business units to monitor performance, resolve issues, and support users’ connectivity needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive in identifying and addressing potential risks, and experienced in managing both on-premises and cloud-based network environments.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a network administration role.
  • Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Monitoring and analyzing network performance using network monitoring tools.
  • Performing network troubleshooting and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Managing network infrastructure projects, such as upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
  • Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
  • Experience with network hardware and software like Cisco, Netgear, Meraki, and Aruba products.
  • Knowledge of network security best practices, including encryption, authentication, access control, and security policies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools like Wireshark, Nagios, PRTG, and Avanan.
  • Experience with network virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Scale Computing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to stakeholders and end-users effectively.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and skills to keep up with industry trends and developments.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure optimal operation by promptly troubleshooting and resolving network issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, patches, and security updates to keep the network infrastructure secure and up to date.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures to protect the organization's network infrastructure from cyber threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, access control lists (ACLs), and other security mechanisms.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate remediation measures.
  • Using network monitoring tools, monitor network traffic, bandwidth utilization, and performance metrics.
  • Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, network congestion, and other issues affecting network performance.
  • Implement performance optimization strategies such as Quality of Service (QoS), traffic shaping, and load balancing to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures to facilitate troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, and future planning.
  • Keep inventory of network assets, including hardware devices, software licenses, and network connections, to ensure proper asset management and tracking.
