About The Position

The Network Operations Specialist will possess comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in installing, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure, systems, and associated components to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient network operations in support of mission-critical environments. Responsibilities Support an IT environment with network equipment from multiple vendors. Provide support for LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks. Manage and support telecommunications systems in a multi-organizational environment. Support, administer, and manage both VoIP and legacy phone systems. Configure and manage IPV4 and IPV6 addresses to maintain proper addressing within the network. Design, install, repair, and terminate LAN wiring and fiber interconnectivity. Manage and support wireless LAN technology for connectivity in various environments. Perform routine network maintenance and upgrades. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic network issues. Play a key role in ensuring network security and conducting vulnerability assessments. Provide support for Risk Management Framework (RMF) and audit activities. Logical Switch and Network Operations: Operate and maintain logical NIPRNET switch connectivity, including ICAN between LANs and computer resources. Provide touch labor for troubleshooting and repairing for logical NIPR network switch instances. Monitor and analyze network performance, conduct fault analysis, and ensure network availability. Conduct event management and provide network utilization reports for logical NIPR network switch instances. Manage network equipment/software, including configuration and capacity management. Common User Network Operations: Operate and maintain common core switches as part of the backbone network infrastructure. Implement and troubleshoot network port authentication (802.1x) across logical NIPR network switch instances. Coordinate incident management actions with affected organizations to ensure timely recovery during network outages. Wireless Network Operations: Operate and maintain wireless access points for Wireless Network Infrastructure. Provide touch labor for troubleshooting and repairing common-user wireless LAN and ICAN. Implementation and Change Management: Create and process the Implementation of Ports, Protocols, Services (PPS) change requests for Army organizations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two (2) years of proven work experience in network operations.
  • Active SECRET clearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure components and protocols.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Current, unexpired DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II-equivalent certification (at least ONE of the following): COMPTIA Security+ CE (SY0-701). COMPTIA NET +. COMPTIA A+. SSCP (ISC²).
  • Current, unexpired Computing Environment certification (at least ONE of the following): Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
