About The Position

Works with the network team on the initial setup, configuration, installation, and maintenance of infrastructure equipment, servers, and systems.

Requirements

  • Must have the physical, developmental, and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below
  • Basic knowledge of standard Network Infrastructure, Storage and Computing physical and virtual environments.
  • Ability to understand network infrastructure, Storage and Computing environment management issues and administrative techniques necessary to support these environments.
  • Ability to assist user activities with various software package(s) and a variety of network and computing platforms including physical and virtual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with end-users, IT staff, and management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and officials.
  • Ability to speak in a manner that can be understood.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Under the supervision of the Network team, must have the ability to use independent judgment and make analytical recommendations.
  • Must be able to work independently and solve problems effectively.
  • Must have the ability to see, write, and perform data entry keying efforts.
  • Ability to concentrate on detail and sequential work tasks.
  • Ability to sit for long periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, and stand.
  • Ability to lift and transport a minimum of fifty lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require eye and hand coordination.
  • Current enrollment at an accredited college or university, with a major or completed coursework in Computer Science, Business Administration or related degree program.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by hire date.
  • No substitution is allowed as applicants must meet the bona fide student requirement standard.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred applicants will have or be working toward the following certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCENT or higher certification, Microsoft Certified Professional.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in/or participate in supporting data communication requirements and standards for the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC).
  • Assists network team in analysis, design, configuration, implementation, documentation, and ongoing support for network resources including compute, storage and infrastructure.
  • Assist in the installation and support of network hardware and software as well as physical and virtual file servers, storage devices, networks, and third party application software including monitoring tools.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • In-County travel is required.
