About The Position

The Planner position will provide environmental planning expertise to lead or assist in obtaining local, state, and/or federal permits for projects related to the energy/utility, transmission, transportation, telecommunications, development, and other industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies
  • Strong knowledge of NEPA and NEPA document production
  • Strong knowledge of local (Utah) agencies and agency rules and regulations
  • Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently with short deadlines
  • Highly organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, local, and tribal agencies
  • Note-taking ability
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
  • 6-10 years of experience working with or for Utah/Great Basin federal, state, or local agencies
  • Prior experience with NEPA compliance for federal telecommunications grants (i.e., RUS and NTIA)
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, Collector, Survey123, etc.)
  • Excellent navigation skills and good driving record
  • Experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road or in rough terrain

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks associated with NEPA or other local, state, and federal permitting
  • Research requirements for a variety of local, state, and federal permits
  • Collaborate with staff, agencies, clients, and other project collaborators to facilitate permit submittals and schedules
  • Synthesize and communicate permit stipulations and requirements
  • Track and organize permit processes and status
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
