About The Position

Summary of Performance Expectations. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner exercises a high degree of professional responsibility, accountability and independent judgement in the performance of advanced nursing practice. Possesses in-depth knowledge of the care and treatment of neonatal patients with specialized needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with clinical emphasis and/or has graduated from a formal post-basic nursing education program resulting in certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
  • Approved to perform medical acts by the joint sub-committee of the NC Board of Nursing and NC Board of Medical Examiners.
  • BCLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date.
  • NRP Certification.
  • Three years registered nurse experience, two of which have been in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  • Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
