POSITION SUMMARY A Non-Destructive Testing Level 1 Technician (NDT Tech) performs non-destructive testing to determine the existence of flaws, discontinuities, contamination, or imperfections with a variety of materials in aircraft materials, components or assemblies without impairing the integrity or function of the inspected component. Conducts test activities and records results in accordance with established testing plan and specifications. Will work independently and be able to troubleshoot any problems that may arise. Will also work within a quality team to drive continuous improvement and customer experience.

Requirements

  • High School (HS) Diploma or GED
  • Must have 2 or more years of manufacturing quality experience
  • Must gain NDT - Level 1 certification within 6 months of starting the position which will require meeting training and testing requirements
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local NDE standards and codes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Knowledge of math and precision measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  • General knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Follow and inspect all standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Understand and apply NDT method and techniques
  • Perform non-destructive testing to determine potential defects
  • Perform a material characterization and failure analysis
  • Use NDT equipment (e.g., handheld, eddy-current, etc.)
  • Perform diagnostic examinations
  • Perform NDT calibrations
  • Perform NDT evaluation and inspection
  • Understand inspection/test procedure to industry standards
  • Obtain and interpret inspection reports
  • Perform an NDT testing including but not limited to eddy-current, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, fluorescent dye, etc.
  • Interpret and/or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.
  • Responsible for reviewing and or assisting with writing procedures, prep work for audits, and participating in both internal and external audits.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • Participate with Continuous Improvement and High Performing Teams to promote a lean culture
  • Other additional responsibilities as assigned by one's team lead, supervisor or other manager related to the position / department.
