Overview The NDT Computed Radiography Level I Trainee assists in performing basic radiographic inspection duties under the direct supervision of a certified Level II or Level III technician. This entry-level role focuses on learning NDT processes, safety procedures, equipment operation, and data handling in accordance with company procedures and applicable codes or standards. Salary: $21- $24/hr DOE Responsibilities Inspection & Testing Assist Level II technicians with setup and preparation of CR equipment, imaging plates, scanners, and work areas Position and secure components, markers, and identification tags as instructed Handle imaging plates safely and maintain their condition Perform basic exposure tasks as directed, following written instructions provided by a higher-level technician Upload, process, and store digital CR images under supervision Safety & Compliance Follow all radiation safety protocols and maintain required dosimetry Comply with company, customer, and regulatory NDT procedures Report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or procedural deviations immediately Documentation & Records Assist with accurate documentation of inspection data, image logs, and traceability records Ensure proper labeling and transfer of radiographic images and files Maintain NDT equipment cleanliness and storage per instructions Training & Development Complete required formal training hours for CR Level I qualification Attend safety briefings, technical training sessions, and OJT activities Study applicable NDT standards (e.g., ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9712, NAS 410) as assigned Skills / Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Basic computer literacy Ability to read and follow written instructions and technical procedures Strong attention to detail and reliability Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, or in industrial environments (as applicable) Preferred Qualifications Prior industrial, manufacturing, or inspection experience Mechanical aptitude Familiarity with digital imaging or radiography equipment Radiation safety training (RSO/Basic Radiation Safety) Physical Requirements Ability to lift 40–50 lbs Ability to stand for long periods Ability to wear required PPE, including radiation badges, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing Core Competencies Safety awareness Willingness to learn Teamwork and communication Attention to detail Professionalism and integrity Company Overview Element is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
