About The Position

The N.D.E Inspector in the pipe shop area is responsible for identifying surface and subsurface defects, conducting non-destructive testing (N.D.E) to ensure the quality of pipes in a manufacturing setting. This role involves using various testing methods, equipment, and techniques to assess the integrity and quality of finished products.

Requirements

  • Willing to work shift work and various shifts.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of relevant N.D.E inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pipe fabrication or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in using ultrasonic and penetrant testing equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret test results accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or certification related to manufacturing operations is a plus.
  • Additional vocational training or certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods preferred.
  • Certification(s) in specific N.D.E techniques (e.g., ASNT Level II or III certification in UT, PT) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ultrasonic testing equipment to inspect subsurface defects in pipes thoroughly.
  • Perform penetrant inspection to detect and evaluate surface defects on finished products.
  • Perform alloy identification to verify the material makeup of the pipes.
  • Identify and assess any surface or subsurface cracks, laps, or other indications in the parent material of the pipes.
