Summary To perform evoked response nerve conduction studies; to monitor additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques; to assist with coverage in the Physiatry dept as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Medical Assistant Registration or obtain MA-R upon employment.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an AMA accredited training program for EEG and/or Registered evoked potential technologist certification or at least 2 yrs of on-the-job training and clinical experience in these studies in lieu of formal training.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and escorts them to exam room.
  • Applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions on the patient’s upper and lower extremities as required for patient specific testing.
  • Abstracts relevant information from the patient’s clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning the patient.
  • Selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations necessary for the case under study; obtains standard recordings, recognizes artifacts, and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them; describes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the tests.
  • Performs evoked response and nerve conduction studies as required.
  • Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition; detects instrument malfunctions and makes minor maintenance adjustments; reports the need for major repairs.
  • Coordinate supporting documentation to facilitate and coordinate patient care involving agencies outside of Confluence Health; obtain L&I or VA authorization when needed.
  • Manage referrals in a complete and timely manner with special attention to urgent conditions/requests.
  • Conduct outbound calls to patients that have not called to schedule their appointments. As well as contacting provider's offices for general inquiries regarding referrals/orders received.
  • Assists with Patient Registration and Check in process.
  • Assists with coverage in Physiatry Dept as required.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
