About The Position

Job Summary: Procedures serve as a primary point of contact for patients scheduled for surgical and procedural care. This role is responsible for guiding patients through the surgical process—from referral and scheduling to post-procedure follow-up—ensuring a seamless, informed, and supportive experience. The navigator coordinates care between providers, departments, and outside facilities to promote timely treatment, patient understanding, and adherence to pre- and post-operative instructions. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise daily SPD activities including decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and trays Ensure adherence to hospital policies, AAMI standards, DNV, OSHA, and infection control regulations Monitor workflow, turnaround times, and instrument availability Troubleshoot sterilization issues and equipment malfunctions Maintain accurate sterilization records, logs, and documentation Participate in quality assurance audits and continuous improvement initiatives Participate in infection control, safety, and regulatory inspections Investigate and resolve sterility breaches or process deviations Oversee maintenance, testing, and validation of sterilization equipment Manage instrument inventory, supplies, and par levels Coordinate repairs, replacements, and vendor services Collaborate with Operating Room, Nursing, Infection Prevention, and Materials Management Communicate effectively regarding case needs, delays, or instrument shortages Participate in departmental meetings and hospital committees as assigned Advocate for patient needs within the healthcare system Identify gaps in care or communication and work to resolve them Connect patients to additional resources such as social services, financial counseling, or community support Document patient interactions, education provided, and care coordination activities Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) Support improved surgical outcomes by promoting adherence to care plans Enhance patient satisfaction by providing consistent communication and guidance throughout the surgical journey Professional Requirements: Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are always professional.
