About The Position

Pioneering Evolution is seeking a senior-level Naval Architect IV to support complex naval shipbuilding and maritime defense initiatives. This role focuses on leading ship design analyses, evaluating hull and superstructure performance, and overseeing prototype development and testing in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy (DoN) policies. The ideal candidate combines extensive naval architecture expertise with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams through ship design, evaluation, and standards compliance. You will play a critical role in ensuring vessel designs meet mission requirements, performance objectives, and national and international regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Active Top-Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 15+ years of professional experience in Naval Architecture.
  • Extensive experience in ship hull and superstructure design and analysis.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of ship performance evaluation, including dock and sea trials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national and international maritime standards.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and technical communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • Experience supporting DoD/DoN acquisition programs.
  • Familiarity with DoD 5000 processes and defense procurement lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting Navy shipbuilding programs.
  • Strong background in prototype development and performance optimization.
  • Experience contributing to large-scale maritime defense initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed analysis of ship hulls and superstructures to ensure structural integrity, performance, and compliance.
  • Review and evaluate design products and technical specifications to establish key ship characteristics, including size, weight, displacement, and speed.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design, development, and testing of ship prototypes.
  • Oversee shipbuilding efforts to ensure design intent is maintained throughout fabrication and integration.
  • Evaluate vessel performance during dock trials and sea trials; analyze findings and implement design modifications as required.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international maritime standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support acquisition milestones and design reviews in accordance with DoD/DoN procedures and policies, including the DoD 5000 process.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across engineering disciplines throughout the ship design lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation, analyses, and recommendations to program stakeholders.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, trade studies, and design optimization efforts to improve performance, cost efficiency, and mission effectiveness.
