Job Summary The Nautical Operations Coordinator supports safe, compliant, and efficient vessel operations across the fleet by providing shoreside coordination for deck personnel, regulatory compliance, vessel documentation, and operational support. This role serves as a key point of contact for Masters, Mates, and Deck Officers, assisting with scheduling, training coordination, documentation, and policy support while working closely with Nautical Leadership and Expedition Leadership to support integrated Deck and Expedition (DEX) operations across the fleet. The Nautical Operations Coordinator contributes to the development, maintenance, and execution of nautical policies, procedures, and training materials that support regulatory compliance, operational consistency, and delivery of the UnCruise guest experience. This is a full-time position based in Seattle or Juneau, with weekend work and travel required based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Experience working onboard passenger carrying vessels in a deck or expedition capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of maritime regulations, compliance requirements, and operational best practices
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and support vessel operations from shore
  • Proficiency with computer systems in a Windows environment, including Excel, Word, and shared document platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the overnight small ship cruise industry preferred
  • 100 ton Near Coastal USCG Master’s License preferred
  • STCW credentials preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment, placement, and scheduling of deck personnel during in season operations and off season maintenance periods
  • Maintain active awareness of deck personnel performance, career progression, and availability through regular communication and review of evaluations
  • Serve as a shoreside point of contact for Mates and Deckhands regarding scheduling, policy clarification, and operational questions
  • Support training coordination for new and advancing deck personnel, including onboarding, familiarization, and assessment processes
  • Assist Nautical Leadership with tracking regulatory credentials and supporting crew in obtaining or upgrading required licenses and certifications
  • Review deck related requisitions and purchasing requests during operations and shipyard periods, coding and approving designated invoices as assigned
  • Assist in researching and contextualizing new regulations, guidance, and industry standards as they apply to fleet operations
  • Support audits, inspections, and vessel visits as required
  • Maintain and organize deck related Master Vessel Files
  • Assist in maintaining deck equipment inventories and administrative reporting requirements
  • Ensure documentation and training resources remain current, accurate, and aligned with regulatory and company standards
  • Work with Expedition and Nautical Leadership to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement in DEX workflows
  • Support development, maintenance, and revision of DEX related policies, procedures, manuals, and training materials
  • Participates in the Company Shoreside Incident Response Plan as assigned
  • Provide coordination and contingency support during vessel or medical emergencies when requested
