This position is responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing and teaching programs and assisting with special events offered by the Nature Center. Primary duties include: Lead or assist with Scout programs, nature-themed birthday parties, guided hikes, day camps, preschool programs, and curriculum-based programs for school-aged children. Plan, research and present interpretive programming for a variety of audiences. Assist with the development of new programs and teach independently. Assist in researching, updating, designing and installing interpretive exhibits on local plant and animal life as assigned. Develop hands-on nature crafts. Assist with live animal care for a small collection of reptiles, amphibians and arthropods. Follow procedures and guidelines for prep time and class schedule requirements. Supervise Nature Center during public hours. Learn and adhere to Park District policies and procedures at all times. Attend district-wide part time staff orientations and trainings.
