About The Position

The Naturalist of the Xplorers Club at Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort main role is to study and educate about the natural world, including plants, animals, ecosystems, and geological features. Naturalists are passionate about the environment and use their knowledge and expertise to promote environmental awareness, conservation, and appreciation for nature through fun, engaging and adventure filled activities.

Requirements

  • Academic education in environmental sciences, marine sciences, biology, ecology, environmental education or related fields preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding tours, teaching and/or leading group activities for both adults and kids.
  • Must be able to read and speak English and Spanish.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Canva, PowerPoint, Outlook, ResortPass, Avero, Silverware, Micros.
  • Ability to effectively use environmental education materials and equipment.
  • Trained and certified in rescue techniques, first aid, and CPR.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Physically able to speak for long periods of time while walking without becoming winded.
  • Must be able to explore all sites and participate in all tour activities (swimming, kayaking, hiking, etc.).
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Able to work outdoors and in different weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a high pace work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • National Association for Interpretation- Certified Interpretive Guide preferred.
