With 350 acres of land, the 1000 Islands Environmental Center provides the public a place along the Fox River to enjoy our natural resources. Recreation is provided by the many miles of trails, which can be used for hiking and snowshoeing. Year-round educational programs teach children and adults principles of conservation and ecology, and the importance of the inter-relationships between them and the environment. As an Intern at 1000 Islands, you will assist the Naturalist in conducting educational programs and other activities for students and visitors, helping coordinate public programs and events, and working in land and habitat conservation and trail maintenance. Activities may include leading interpretive hikes and field trips, as well as assisting with animal care and land management programs at the Center. The Intern position will also have opportunities for valuable learning opportunities in the daily operations of the Nature Center. The Intern will report to and be supervised by the Naturalist. This internship is 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8am-4pm M-F with occasional evenings and Saturdays as needed.
