About The Position

Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations. We are hiring for one full-time, permanent position located in Tillamook, Oregon. What you will do: In this position, you will assist the project leader and Ocean Sampling Project by coordinating the collection and transfer of data and biological samples from the field to Newport and distributing supplies and project information back to the samplers. You will assist the samplers in the field through an orientation, in-port training, and by answering questions as they arise in the field. Note: This position will require the employee to drive between Newport and Astoria (sometimes coast wide) on a weekly basis (summer) and Tillamook and Salmon River daily (fall and winter). May work in fish plants and on docks (summer) or spend several days per week at a fish hatchery handling and tagging fish with required fish/water contact. Requirements

  • Three years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or marine program.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Marine Science or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological/oceanographic coursework
