Natural Areas Student Aide, SC1NATAABIOLO (SP26)
About The Position
Natural Areas Student Aide, SC1NATAABIOLO (SP26) Student Worker Eligibility: Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived. If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assist Prairie Manager in the maintenance of Natural Areas on campus. Assist with maintenance and repair of trails. Assist with eradication of invasive plant species. Assist with brush removal and disposal. Assist with collection, processing, and distribution of seed. Assist with prescribed burning and burn preparations. Assist with growing, planting, and watering plants. Assist with organizing workspaces and record keeping. Assist with weeding and seed cutting. Assist with picking up litter in and around Natural Areas. Assist with volunteer workdays, tours, and special events. Assist with other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education THIS IS A STUDENT JOB. High school diploma or equivalent. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived. If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds. Experience Previous experience is desired, but not necessary required. Some knowledge of landscape/garden maintenance is required. Licenses and Certifications Driver's License Req COD Training Compliance Training Bloodborne Pathogens Hazardous Communications Ladder Safety Driver Safety Hand & Power Tool Safety Personal Protective Equipment Working Conditions: Loppers, hand pruners, saws and other landscaping equipment will be used. WORKING CONDITIONS: Should be able to be outdoors and walk on uneven terrain. Dress to be outdoors and to get dirty. Layers are suggested to acclimate to changing weather. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required. Long pants are required, no shorts. This student position requires the following test/tests: Physical, Background Check, Driver's License verification.
