About The Position

The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. This is a full-time remote position. PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: The Senior Manager, Transplant will lead the ALF Living Donor Network serving as a liaison between transplant centers and non-directed (altruistic) living liver donors. In addition, this role holder manages the relationship with the platform vendor and has oversight for the day to day management of the platform. This role holder will be responsible for recruiting and onboarding new transplant centers, providing education about the program to transplant centers, tracking donor candidates, providing donor education, tracking referrals, reallocating donors to different centers as needed, and conducting data collection and reporting. The Senior Manager, Transplant, also plays a critical role in advancing ALF’s mission by leading the ALF peer mentoring program which trains, screens and connects mentors with mentees looking for support throughout their liver disease or living donation process. This position reports to Chief Marketing, Communications & Public Affairs Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with donors and/or patients in a transplant center as a transplant coordinator, transplant social worker or in similar role within a university, or related healthcare organization.
  • Knowledge of transplant, health issues and/or public health.
  • Ability and willingness to learn complex medical information.
  • Experience in implementing educational program initiatives.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives and success, a team player.
  • Ability to launch and manage projects to completion.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and exercise sound judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including customer (patient) assessment and service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; knowledge and experience with donor database.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
  • Expected travel 10-20%.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Actively identify and recruit additional transplant centers to join the registry. Integrate new transplant centers into the registry and ensure they are familiar with and adhere to established protocols and processes. Provide education on registry and processes.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to transplant centers on registry protocols, best practices, and updates to ensure consistency and compliance regularly collaborating with living donor coordinators at these institutions.
  • Monitor and manage donor candidates who inquire through the registry, ensuring they receive timely and accurate information.
  • Offer educational resources and guidance to donor candidates, helping them understand the donation process.
  • Refer donor candidates to appropriate transplant hospitals according to protocols and follow up to ensure that donor applications are processed efficiently.
  • Re-allocate non-directed donors to alternative transplant centers if they are unable to donate at the initially referred center.
  • Collect and maintain data on the number of registrants, referrals, withdrawals, withdrawal reason, and number of successful donations. Provide regular reports to inform process improvements and outcomes.
  • Oversee ALF peer mentoring program including training of mentors, screening and connecting peer mentors to patients, caregivers and potential living donors, and maintaining the platform database.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all inquiries.
  • Attend relevant training courses to strengthen and expand program.
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities for professional growth and self-improvement.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports as assigned.
  • Attend ALF meetings, programs and events when requested to do so.
  • All other duties as required.
