Job Summary Responsible for developing and executing national strategies for assigned categories. Oversee supply chain solutions and purchasing programs to ensure adherence to approved quality and delivery standards. Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Manages a team of Category Purchasing Managers, Senior Buyers or Expeditors to execute procurement for assigned categories. Develops strategies in assigned categories to ensure alignment between the national category management strategy and supporting the district/region business needs. Oversees the collaboration of building relationships within the Purchasing department, districts/regions and ensures alignment with the company assortment strategy. Collaborates with field purchasing, purchasing operations, category management, to drive execution at the field level. Communicates national direction and strategy to field, pricing, category management and external suppliers needed to ensure all are aligned. Ensures effective product performance within assigned categories to ensure profitability, product penetration, product mix and inventory turns are achieved. Creates necessary supply chain solutions to allow for more effective purchasing, profitability, and inventory availability. Partners with category management to create stronger partnerships with preferred suppliers to support continued growth within assigned category. Nature and Scope Solutions require analysis and investigation. Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff. Work Environment Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. Education and Experience Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of experience in related field. Oracle experience. Preferred candidate will have experience in Construction related industry. Prior experience managing a team. Requirements
