About The Position

American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: ALF is seeking a dynamic and experienced, National Manager of Liver Life Walk to lead the strategy and execution of our national peer to peer fundraising program Liver Life Walk for the Western Mountain Region (AZ, CA, CO, TX, UT),), as well as donor and volunteer development. This role will focus on maximizing fundraising revenue, cultivating top fundraisers and teams, and developing strong volunteer leadership networks. ALF is looking for a strategic fundraiser with a deep understanding of nonprofit walk events and a proven track record in community engagement. The role is responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of large- and small-scale national fundraising events, with a primary focus on Liver Life Walk. You will partner closely with national staff colleagues in programs, development, stakeholder engagement, events, and digital communications and support to ensure successful execution of activities. Primary area of focus includes, but is not limited to, Liver Life Walk, Donor and Volunteer Development. Position may be asked to assist with other Event Department fundraising initiatives on an as needed basis, including travel. Recognizing that collaboration with the development department is of utmost importance to ensure ALF’s success, the National Manager, Liver Life Walk will assist in identifying potential fundraising relationships while working closely with development colleagues. This position reports to the National Senior Manager, Events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • The job holder must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License
  • Job holder must live in one of the states included in the Western Mountain Region (AZ, CA, CO, TX, UT).
  • 3+ years in non-profit, fundraising, event planning or relevant experience.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, stay organized and manage several projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Strong skills working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), especially Excel.

  • Online CRM database, Canva, Zoom and GoToMeeting experience a plus.
  • Must enjoy working as a member of a team with an attitude of "pitch-in", and "no-job-is-too-small", on multiple projects and handle pressure with grace.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the National Senior Manager, Events, develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to attract new and returning participants, leveraging multi-channel outreach including email, phone, mailings, and in-person engagement.
  • Collaborate with local volunteers to create a grassroots marketing campaign that aligns with industry Liver Life Walk best practices.
  • Set team and participant goals; track progress using standardized templates and databases.
  • Engage local medical professionals and institutions to expand participant base, including targeted outreach to hospitals, clinics, and physician offices.
  • Respond promptly to customer service inquiries related to recruitment and event participation.
  • Under the direction of the National Senior Manager, Events design and execute fundraising strategies for teams and individuals, including contests, incentive programs, and cultivation activities.
  • Be accountable for regional Liver Life Walk performance by executing against established fundraising and participation goals and contributing to year-over-year growth through strong fundraising strategies, team development, and volunteer leadership engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with team captains and top fundraisers through regular communication, meetings, and personalized recognition.
  • Promote and manage fundraising incentive programs, ensuring compliance with national standards and timely distribution of prizes.
  • Oversee donor stewardship, including thank-you communications, matching gift follow-up, and post-event recognition.
  • Identify, cultivate and share with Development and the CEO potential major donor and high-level volunteers.
  • Establish and manage volunteer committees, defining roles and responsibilities for committee members and chairs.
  • Schedule and facilitate regular committee meetings to monitor progress, address challenges, and coordinate efforts.
  • Recruit, train, and retain volunteers, leveraging board members, community partners, and local organizations.
  • Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions through ongoing communication, titles, appreciation events, and awards.
  • Implement ALF best practices and standardized approaches for Liver Life Walk events, providing feedback and recommendations to support continuous improvement while maintaining organizational consistency.
  • Assign duties and manage planning timelines and task lists for staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure all team members and volunteers are trained and equipped with necessary resources and information for successful event execution.
  • Comfort with frequent outbound phone communication, including high-volume calls during peak campaign periods to engage participants, team captains, volunteers, medical partners, and community stakeholders; strong verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Maintain third party platforms including, but not limited to, Julep, Summa, Double the Donation, GiveSmart, LiverWorks, etc.
  • Manage relationships and price negotiations with external vendors and event partners while adhering to expense budgets.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities for professional growth and self-improvement.
  • Attend in-person and virtual ALF meetings, programs and events when requested to do so.
  • All other duties as required.
