About The Position

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a strategic and execution-focused National Director of Nursing to lead the development, standardization, and performance of nursing services across its national footprint. This role will work closely with the COO and senior leadership to ensure nursing operations are consistent, compliant, and positioned to support long-term growth across a multi-state healthcare environment. Requirements

  • Active multi-state RN license, preferably in AK, CA, CO, DE, FL, IL, MA, PA, and TX
  • BSN or higher from an accredited School of Nursing
  • 8+ years of nursing leadership experience, including multi-site oversight
  • 2+ year of nursing leadership experience in substance use disorder and mental health treatment
  • Proven experience leading and developing nursing leaders
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing leaders
  • Deep experience with regulatory and accrediting bodies, including CARF, Joint Commission, and state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both frontline staff and senior leadership
  • Ability to drive accountability and performance across a distributed organization

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a unified nursing model across all facilities to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability.
  • Standardize clinical practices, workflows, and performance expectations across a multi-state footprint.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Directors of Nursing, building a high-performing and accountable nursing leadership team.
  • Partner with site and regional leadership to elevate nursing performance and leadership capability.
  • Own nursing performance across all regulatory and accrediting bodies, including CARF, Joint Commission, and state and federal agencies.
  • Design and implement systems that ensure continuous audit readiness across all facilities.
  • Lead audits and support site teams in navigating survey processes.
  • Drive resolution of regulatory findings, including root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance is embedded into operating systems and not dependent on individual performance.
  • Establish and track nursing KPIs related to quality, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Utilize data to identify trends, mitigate risk, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources on workforce strategy, including leadership hiring, performance management, employee relations, and retention.
  • Collaborate with Compliance & Quality and cross-functional leadership to align nursing with organizational priorities.
  • Operate effectively in a matrixed environment, influencing site-level execution while maintaining enterprise standards.
