About The Position

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc., (AMA) is looking to hire a highly motivated individual to support the ASDC data systems managed by the RSES (Research, Science, and Engineering Services) contract located at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). The candidate will provide technical support to administer the ASDC computing resources in a hybrid infrastructure consisting of a virtual environment on premise and cloud technologies such as AW, and will be responsible in ensuring the security, compliance, and resilience of the NASA systems assigned. This is a senior role and the ideal candidate will have experience working with federal compliance frameworks, automating patching and workloads, securing hybrid environments, and working with the entire team of System Administrators. The salary for this role will be between $85,000 and $130,000 commensurate with education and experience. Job Description The successful candidate will provide support to administer the ASDC data systems and the team, ensuring functional requirements, security, and compliance. Support the maintenance and operation of the on-premise virtual infrastructure: This includes but not limited to assisting with the maintenance of the virtual technologies, installing and configuring services, secure operating systems, and applications in the virtual environment, and networking. Administer and manage the computing infrastructure, including the patching process, using various automation technologies. Monitor the security of computing infrastructure using various technologies. Assist with monitoring and maintenance of the security measures for on-premises infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems. Assist with compliance activities by preparing systems for internal and external audits. Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible and/or CloudFormation. Research, install and configure services and resources in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment. Develop and maintain documentation of systems. Perform other SA duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or its equivalent.
  • 5 - 10 years' experience in an enterprise systems environment as a system administrator.
  • Knowledge and understanding of LINUX environments (filesystems, storage, architecture).
  • Experience with managing RedHat (RHEL) OS and virtual environments such as OpenShift.
  • Expertise in securing physical, virtual, and containerized infrastructures in a hybrid environment.
  • Experience with endpoint security, network security, and firewall management.
  • Familiarity with “DevSecOps” practices and securing CI/CD pipelines in an on-premises and cloud environment.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to support multiple objectives, track own work and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • The selected applicant will be subject to a security investigation and employment is based on the ability to attain Minimum Background Investigation clearance and physical and logical access to NASA LaRC (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required).

Nice To Haves

  • MS in computer science or related field.
  • Experience with open-source OS technologies such as Alma Linux and Rocky Linux.

  • Previous experience with a NASA or other US government agency.
